Why Should We Read The Bible?

1.       The Bible is God’s word to mankind

2Timothy3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Isaiah 55:10-11 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

2.       God’s word gives us direction for our lives

The word of God guides us in what we should say, do or where to go. All our decisions and actions must be based on the Bible

Ps 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.”

3.       The word of God helps us to change our thinking patterns and keeps us from sins in our lives

Psalms 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!”

Psalms 119:9 “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.”

4.       God’s word will make us strong Christians

As you feed or read the word of God you develop. Your spirit will grow too and you understand spiritual things. For spiritual things can only be discerned spiritually.

1Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may GROW thereby”

Acts 20:32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
